Mohamed Sefiani

Since 2009, Mohamed Sefiani has been the Mayor of Chefchaouen which is a climate leader city in the MENA region and has a vision for becoming an ecological city. Mr Sefiani is a leading figure in Morocco in terms of energy efficiency and fighting against plastic pollution. Besides his post as the Mayor of Chefchaouen, Mr Sefiani is also the President of the UCLG Forum of Intermediate Cities, Co-president of Africa Climate Task Force within UCLG-Africa, Board Member of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, President of the Mediterranean Network of Medinas and the President of the Moroccan Association for Eco-Cities (AMEV).
